Who is Lila?
Hi, I’m Lila, the human behind PICO Paint.
Three years ago in 2021, I was a suitcase-toting art director, forever on planes, in Airbnb, or stuck in hotel lobbies waiting for clients who were always 45 minutes late.
I missed painting —physically ached for it. But a full-size watercolor set, two water jars, and a painting stand don’t fit in a carry-on, and the “travel” kits I found were either cheap plastic ones or overpriced tins that cost more than my flight.
So I did the adult thing: I complained to my dog.
One night in Phoenix, I filled a hotel cup with water and started mixing half-dried paint pans to capture the pre-dusk moment during my trip. PICO sat quietly watching me paint. When I finished, he cocked his head as if to say,
“If you can shrink the whole sunset into that book, why can’t you shrink your watercolor studio too?”
That moment became my inspiration. I spent the next eighteen months designing and building the travel set. All the pigments in our store are of professional quality, so even if you want to paint a cathedral instead of a cup of café, you’ll still get those vibrant colors.
Why is Pico?
We named it PICO Paint because "pico" means one-trillionth—proof that "small" is not the opposite of "serious." Every time you open the set, you’re reminded of the real PICO: the dog who naps in the shade, the friend who believes every trip is a watercolor studio and every delay is just bonus sketch time.
About us
This one’s for the commuters, the lunch-break dreamers, the parents pushing strollers, and the kids who can’t sit still. One pocket, one brush, one piece of paper—watch the world turn into paint. If a puppy dog could teach me that adventure fits in a pocket, maybe your next masterpiece does too.
Unclip the band. Wet the brush. Let the dog lead you to the next rainbow.
